| I think there's.. a certian amount of fun, amusement, if you will, that can be gleaned from simply rocking out to hard songs, if you'll pardon the pun. Song that are, by all means, indicative of sexual repression and slight amounts of simmering frustration. There's a bit of amused kinship to them, you know. They're usually.. how you'd expect them to sound. Not loud, but forceful. Strong downbeats, heavy guitar, or at least, some background sound. The lyrics are often simple, straight foward, and catchy as hell. The overall sound--dark, rough, and in need of a good fucking. I really don't know the point of this, truly. There's just some kick you get from these songs, yeah? They're there, they're in your face--they don't hide behind complex little metaphors and tilting vocals. Blunt. Unassuming. Wanting. They know what they want, as much as you do, and make no apologies about it. They were popular in the '50's, twenty years ago, and five days from tomorrow. There's no way to deny the raw power of a song with seemingly no purpose except to be sexually charged. It's loose, carefree, and utterly unapologetic. What's not to like? |
